With Nano becoming more and more well known, there will bound to be some people who think that Nanowrimo isn't for them. Which is totally fine. But I don't understand people with the mindset that what few rules there are to the challenge is a complete impediment to creativity. And that they are worried about the low percentage of "winners".
What Nano sets is a goal for those who want to work toward something substantial. No one is going to penalize you for writing more or less than 50k. What matters is the process of writing. Many people (including myself) have "real life" getting in the way most of the time. Nano specifically sets aside time and gives one permission to let everything loose. And as for the number of winners--signing up does not automatically guarantee that you will finish. Like a lot of other things in life, there is no get-out-of-jail-free card. What you accomplish will rest 99% with you.
