Last night, I was looking up potatoes on Wikipedia (which is not as strange as you think--my license plate says "Famous Potatoes" on it) and somehow, I stumbled on corpse mummification by saponification. Gruesome yet fascinating stuff. I think I've got some inspiration now for a short story. And today, while looking at a book review site, a title caught my eye. If I changed it just a bit, it would make an awesome title--maybe even a title for this November's Nano novel.
Anyways, the point is, you can get inspiration for your writing from anywhere.
