Some new ideas have been floating around, primarily after I've read a book about Edward Gorey. I think it would be pretty cool to do something in a sort of twisted Edwardian Age. I've gone so far as to look up Edwardian fashions and some architecture books to get some ideas on constructing a creepy gothic manor. This has also reminded me of other things, like H.P. Lovecraft (always one of my major influences), the first gothic novel by Walpole (I've got to read that some time) and the interactive fiction of Emily Short.
Another idea I've been toying with has its origins from last year when I was thinking about the 2005 Nano novel. It has to do with an island that is like Iceland, except it's weird and fantastical in a subtly horrific way. And the main character would be a convicted criminal...
