Missing the Mark. (via Dear Author) You know, quotation marks are there for a reason. You can't just do away with it because it's contrary to your aesthetic tastes. It's like people who never capitalize their correspondence or who only write in all caps. Then again, maybe that's the conceit of literary fiction--to make things more difficult for the reader.
