I recently noticed this thread about advice from people who have won Nano for the past seven years. I thought about posting, but then decided not to. Mostly because I don't really think I have any advice that anyone would find valid or useful. (This seems somewhat contradictory because I'm mentoring newbies--but that's because they are asking me questions. I'm not handing out unsolicited advice.) In some ways, I sort of dislike dwelling on the previous years in which I did Nano. It's sort of like being a has-been attempting to relive his glory days. I'd rather pretend that this is my first year for doing things. Pretend that I don't know anything about this writing a novel in a month thing so no one would really expect anything of me.
Addendum: Okay, I lied. I finally did post to that thread. Mostly in response to somebody else's comment.
