I was reading a thread on the Nano forums where a poster asked people about their opinions about gay characters. Some people--well, to me they sounded like religious wingnuts. They have the right to their own opinion, although I say I have the right to say that they're wrong. If they get a look at the main character I'm crafting for this year's Nano project, they're going to run screaming in the opposite direction. Cause he swings both ways--and is unrepentant about it.
Anyways, I don't write for an audience. I write for myself first, always. I usually don't concern myself with Issues in my stories. I like action, plot, adventure. I want to entertain, not preach. If my characters turn out one way--well, that's the way they are. And it would be cowardly to take the easy way out.
