It's a little over a month and a half till the Nano starting gate and I have yet to get a grasp on what I want to write about. Plenty of ideas--I just don't know which one to pick.
I'm of the camp that worries about writing the story first before sticking it into a genre. Others might decide the genre first: hey, I'll write a mystery/fantasy/sci-fi/whathaveyou. Which is fine. Different people work in different ways. I'm only annoyed when people start saying, I'm writing in genre A, but I've never read any books in genre A so what techniques do you suggest?
Agh! People should just read books before they even start thinking about writing them.
