Last night, I went to a write-in in another state. This would sound impressive unless you include the fact that I live only a couple of miles away from the Idaho-Washington border. The write-in also occurred in a hospital. This would have been helpful if I had any characters in need of modern medical help. But I don't. I just have characters who end up dead.
I got a fair amount done last night--via handwriting. And I got a very funny line from the ML that I just have to work in at some point in my novel--because it plays up so nicely to the fact that some of my characters are secretly twisted and kinky.
I also managed to get a peek at the No Plot? No Problem! Kit. The daily pep talk cards are hilarious (and useful). I'm not quite sure what I'd do with the motivational coupons as I've never fallen so behind that I'd need a literal kick in the rear to get me going. And I have no idea what's in the booklet as the ML only passed it around to people who were compulsive list-makers.
I'd give the kit a "meh." I'm afraid I'm a bit old school when it comes to Nanowrimo. The extras are just that--extras. By this part of the month, I generally have a fair idea of where I'm going even though I only have a vague outline and I just plow ahead.
Oh, and to celebrate my birthday today, here are the genre stats for 26-year-olds:
Percentage of 26-year-olds who have written anything at all: 967/1543 = 63%
Percentage of 26-year-olds in all of Nano: 1543/77060 = 2% (does not include people who didn't include age in their profile)
The popularity of each genre between 25 and 26-year-olds is fairly consistent. Which makes sense. Tomorrow, I'll put up genre popularity comparing 18-year-olds and 50-year-olds by percentage (as, obviously, the middle-aged are far outnumbered by the teenaged participants).
